Community-centric journalism covering COVID-19, Chinatown and a changing city.

Canal Street News was founded in April 2020 amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Currently, Canal Street News is a lower Manhattan community-centric news site covering topics such as COVID-19, Manhattan’s Chinatown and a changing New York City. Stories featured on CSN are fueled and fact-checked by ethical journalists, written by members of the local community and intended to further the truth in America and abroad. Canal Street News is currently seeking applications for its summer journalism club (a mentorship program intended for high school and college-aged students) and first-person essay submissions from lower Manhattan residents and workers.
